Before We Start — Your Big Sister Briefing

You don't need to be a tech person.
You just need to be curious.

I remember when I first started learning about AI. I felt like everyone else had a secret decoder ring and I was standing outside the party. Sound familiar?

Here's what I want you to know: the people who are winning with AI right now aren't the most technical ones. They're the most curious ones. The ones who aren't afraid to ask "dumb" questions. The ones who experiment, get it wrong, learn, and try again.

That's you. That's why you're here. Let's go.

Core Concepts to Know
Machine Learning: A computer that learns from examples instead of rules. Like how you learned to recognise a cat — nobody gave you a rulebook, you just saw enough cats.
Neural Network: The structure inside AI that does the learning. Loosely inspired by your brain — layers of connected nodes that get smarter with every example they see.
Large Language Model (LLM): The type of AI behind ChatGPT and Claude. Trained on enormous amounts of text, it learned to predict 'what word comes next' so well that it can now write, reason, and create.
Prompt: The message you send to AI. The better your prompt, the better the output. This whole course is basically about writing better prompts.
Hallucination: When AI confidently makes something up. It's a real thing. Always fact-check anything important.
The Golden Rule
The 30% AI Rule ⚖️

AI should contribute no more than 30% of your final work. The other 70% — the thinking, the judgment, the lived experience, the human touch — that's yours.

AI is your assistant, not your ghostwriter. Use it to go faster, explore more options, and execute better — but always bring your own voice, your own judgment, and your own truth-checking to the final output. Your audience follows you for you.

Three Key Focus Areas for Beginners
Generative AI
Using AI to write, create images, summarise, and generate ideas. This is where most people start — and where you'll get the fastest wins.
📊
Data Analysis
Using AI to make sense of numbers, spot patterns, and turn messy data into clear decisions. No data science degree required.
🛠️
AI Engineering
Building tools and automations with AI. You don't need to code — but understanding what's possible makes you a much better director.

Talking to AI Like a Human
Stop typing keywords. Start having conversations. This changes everything.
🎤 Spice Girls energy: Tell AI what you really, really want.
Track 1Start Here
AI isn't Google. Stop treating it like one.

Okay, real talk. Most people type into AI like they're Googling something. Short. Choppy. Keyword-y. And then they wonder why the answer is so... meh.

Here's the thing your big sister is telling you right now: AI is a conversation, not a search bar. The more you tell it, the better it gets. Think of it like briefing your most brilliant friend before they help you with something.

There are 5 things every great AI prompt needs — and most people skip at least 3 of them:

1. Role — who is AI being?

"You are a warm, experienced business coach..." This one line completely changes how AI responds. It's like telling your friend "put your therapist hat on" vs "put your accountant hat on."

2. Context — what's the situation?

AI has no memory. Every conversation starts fresh. So you have to paint the picture. Who are you? What's happening? What matters here?

3. Task — what exactly do you need?

"Write an email" is vague. "Write a 150-word email to a client who's frustrated because their order was late, in a warm and apologetic tone" — that's a task.

4. Format — how should it look?

Bullet points? A script? A table? Three options to choose from? Tell it! Otherwise AI just... guesses.

5. Constraints — what NOT to do?

No jargon. Keep it under 200 words. Don't mention competitors. These guardrails keep AI on your track.

Real Example
❌ What most people type:
"Write an email about our new program."

✅ What a Wonder Conductor types:
"You are a warm, credentialed AI coach. Write a 180-word launch email for Wonder Conductor, a 6-week AI leadership program for business owners. Audience: women aged 35-55 who feel overwhelmed by AI. Tone: inspiring but real — no hype. End with one clear CTA to apply. Avoid jargon."

See the difference? Same task. Completely different result.
The Spice Girls Principle
Each Spice Girl had a clear role, a distinct personality, and knew exactly what she was there to do. Your AI prompt needs the same thing. Role. Context. Task. Format. Constraints. Tell AI what you really, really want — and it will deliver.
